Discuss the connection between nutrition and disease. Be sure to include information on chronic diseases, as well as malnutrition and other leading causes of death.

People fail to realize that what we put in our body affects our overall health whether it’s good or bad. Heart disease, cancer, lung disease and strokes are the leading causes of death in the United States. These four diseases are causes of death that are related to nutrient. “Chronic diseases degenerative conditions or illnesses that progress slowly, are long in duration, and lack an immediate cure; chronic diseases limit functioning, productivity, and the quality and length of life. Examples include heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.” (Sizer & Whitney, 2013) Although some diseases can be prevented from simply maintain a healthy life style these are disease that can be causes from genetics but it is up to you to make the right choices as far as what you eat and if you choice to be active throughout the day. Daily activity and well balanced meals will help keep your body in good health. Some things can’t be prevented but doing what you can to maintain good health is the best thing to do.  Malnutrition is caused by to lack of nutrition. It is due to a deficiency of the vital nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals that are required to endure acceptable health. Malnutrition deteriorates the organs and immune system therefore it makes one vulnerable to many diseases and common infections.
